Thomas G. Pather, 77, of Whitman, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband of the late Mary Hennessy Prather, he was the father of the late Thomas Jr., Kevin of Brockton and James of Whitman. He is survived by his two sons, James, Kevin and his wife Sharon; and his three grandchildren, Ciara, Michael and Brianna.
Tom proudly served in the Navy after high school and was stationed overseas for two years in Okinawa. After leaving the Navy full-time, he continued his service in the reserves at the Weymouth Air Base.
He was employed for 29 years at the Gillette Company of South Boston as a welder/machinist and was a meticulous welder who cut no corners.
After retirement, Toms main passion was riding his Harley Davidson in the wind.
Tom loved nothing better than hopping on the Harley with Mary for a Sunday cruise all over New England and enjoyed vacations to Daytona Beach Fla., Sturgis, N.D, and Laconia, N.H.
He had many longtime friends from the Whitman area and was a true friend to those that became his friend.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Friday, July 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at the Mackinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St. (off Route 18), Whitman.
