Theresa Martin

October 29, 1927 — July 10, 2022

Whitman

On July 10, 2022, Heaven gained a very special angel, Theresa Elvira Martin, of Whitman, Massachusetts. She passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief hospitalization at age 94 surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, to James and Elvira (Celis) Horton, Theresa was the loving mother of eleven children.  Theresa is predeceased by her parents and siblings James, Martin, John, Martha, Nanette and Joan.  She is also predeceased by her daughter, Rosemarie Russell, and son, Michael P. Martin.

Theresa was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She was thoughtful, caring and generous to no fault.  Theresa cared more about taking care of others than herself. As a mother of eleven, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children, often going without.  No matter what, she always gave from her heart.

Theresa was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman who was admired by her family.  She loved to be silly and had the most beautiful smile that could light up a room.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and also enjoyed watching TV with her daughters.  Even at the age of 94, Theresa was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games and keeping up with family matters on Facebook.  As the Matriarch of the Martin family, she will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Theresa is lovingly remembered by her children: Paul Martin of Venice, Florida; Ernest Martin of Middleboro; Thomas J. Martin and his partner, Timothy Malone of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Dolores Kerwin of Whitman; James Martin and his wife Linda of Fitchburg; Theresa Pierce and her husband James of Randolph; Karen Martin of Whitman; Denise Hayes and her husband Mark of Gibsonville, North Carolina and Richard F. Martin of Randolph.

Theresa was a very proud and loving grandmother to Paula, Michael, Sheryl, Scott, Terry, Sheila, Jimmy Jr, Melissa, Lisa, Brian, Tracey, Felicia, Mary, Steven, Todd, Aaron, Evan, Nicole, Adam,Toni, Mikey, Shawn, Shane, Cody, Dawnmarie, Justin, Kelsey and Kelli.  Her grandchildren, as well as her 41 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great- grandchildren and her numerous grand fur-babies, will deeply miss their Nana.

Theresa is also survived by her sister, Barbara of Norton, Rita of Nevada, and brother, Richard “Dickie” of Wisconsin as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved friends and relatives.

Special thanks to her daughters, Karen and Dolores, who provided invaluable care and support for many years.
