Susanne Atkinson-Tilton

Susanne Atkinson-Tilton age 66 of New Bedford MA, passed away on Friday April 11, while surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Susanne was born on September 12, 1958, and grew up in Hudson, MA.

Susanne was predeceased by her husband Charley and mother & father William and Dorothy Aud. She leaves behind her daughter Kara Atkinson, best friend Dick, sister Mary Lou Sullivan and husband Paul Sullivan, sister Rose Marie Cook and husband Frank Cook and nieces and nephews Naomi Martin husband Mark, Jason Burns, Kathrine Corbet husband Dave, Heather Cook, and great nieces and nephews Tyler Martin, Molly Martin, Lillian Burns and Jaxon Corbett, along with many friends and acquaintances who treasured her spirit.

Susanne was a kind, selfless woman who would give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need, and could often be described as a “hot ticket”. She was loved by many and widely known for her perseverance, strength and ability to fight through any challenge sent her way. She was an avid Patriots fan, enjoyed gardening and going on tropical vacations, but most of all she loved and valued the special relationship she had built with her daughter Kara.

She will mostly be remembered for her ability to make friends with just about anybody, create light of any difficult situation, make others feel loved and most of all her great sense of humor.

While we all know that energy can neither be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another, it gives us peace to know that her spirit will continue to exist, and that we will all be reunited with Susanne and loved ones at a later time in life. She might not be physically here, but she is everywhere now, and she still lives in each and every one of us as her spirit goes unchanged.
