Sharon Bruce

January 20, 1958 — July 7, 2020

Sharon A. (Haggerty) Bruce, 62, of Auburndale, Florida died suddenly on Tuesday, July 7 th at South Shore Hospital. Born in Allston, Massachusetts in 1958 to Robert Haggerty and Joan (McCabe) Haggerty, she was the second eldest of 9 children. After giving birth to their daughter in 1994, she married her husband and love of her life John F. Bruce in 1997. Following working at a movie theater for some time when she was young, she developed a distaste for popcorn that she never let her husband and daughter forget. She worked in Boston for many years, finding a job she loved, but ultimately making the sacrifice to leave so she could spend more time with her growing daughter. She became the beloved lunch lady, making friends with just about every person she met and becoming the “school mom” to many of the kids. She touched the lives of all her family and friends, and just about every person who knew her. Loving wife to John Bruce and daughter of Robert and Joan Haggerty, she is also survived by her many sisters, Arlene Genovese and husband Richard, Kathi Crear, Laurie Alfano and husband Edward, Wendy Haggerty and husband Randi, Noelle Haggerty, Stacey Lustig and husband Scott, and Mary Higgins and husband Charlie; as well as her brothers Scott Haggerty, and Kenny Haggerty and wife Deb. Devoted mother to Alysha Bruce-Crowley and husband, she was excitedly awaiting the birth of her first grandson, due in August. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all who will miss her greatly.

Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, July 16 th at Mackinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St, Whitman, with Funeral Mass services on Friday July 17 th at 10 am, burial to follow at Colebrook Cemetery.
