Ruth M. Strang

Ruth Strang of Brockton passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the age of 88. Ruth was raised in Hanover before moving to Rockland and graduating from Rockland High School. After graduating she married Marvin Crothers and traveled with him during his time in the military and later in life married Robert Strang. They returned home and she worked as a nurse’s aide until her retirement.

Ruth was a collector that loved going to any and all flea markets and yard sales. She inherited a love of flowers and plants from her mother and also enjoyed any time she got to spend by the ocean. Ruth was a competitive woman and loved playing board games and Bingo, but her favorite of all was Chess, as she made it very challenging for any of her opponents to win. Above all else Ruth loved to visit with her family and friends and spend as much time as she could with them.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Francis and Clara Bearce. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Strang. Ruth was the mother of the late Mark Crothers and his wife Debbie of Whitman and Linda Bernard of Pembroke and her late husband Gerald. She was the devoted grandmother of Hans, Stephen, Jason, Nick, Chris, Emily and the late Verne. Great grandmother of Samantha, Nicole, Andrew, Stephen Jr., Isaiah, Olivia, Elija and Nicholas. Ruth was also fortunate enough to have great great grandchildren Vada, Liam and Noah. She was predeceased by all her siblings George, Robert, Dorothy, Richard, Kenny and Florence.

A graveside service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the St. Josephs Manor in Brockton.
