Ronald Carl "Ron" Peterson, 89, passed away on January 30, 2025, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts after a period of declining health. Born on May 12, 1935, in Brockton, Massachusetts, he lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to his family, career, and interests.
Ron proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class. His service was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, reflecting his dedication and commitment.
Following his military service, Ron built a successful career as an accountant for Procter & Gamble. Beyond his professional work, he was deeply involved in the East Bridgewater Commercial Club, where he served as Assistant Manager and Function Hall Coordinator. Whether working or socializing, he greatly enjoyed his time at the club with his fellow members. His contributions there were valued by all who knew him.
Ron was completely devoted to his wife, Pepper. They met while they were working at Peterson’s Bakery in East Bridgewater, which was owned by Ron’s parents. Married for many years, they were inseparable, always finding joy in each other’s company, whether they were happily at home, at the Club, entertaining family and friends or spending a night out dancing to their favorite music.
Ron had a generous spirit and was known for his tradition of giving family and friends a dollar whenever he saw them. He had a deep love for sports, which carried on to his grandsons, particularly the Red Sox and the Celtics. As a passionate collecter he was able to aquire many rare coin collections and valuable sports memorabilia. He loved bowling, crossword puzzles, and a challenging game of cribbage. He was also an avid reader. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan "Pepper" (Stafford) Peterson; his son, Ronald Peterson Jr.; his daughter, Suzanne Julius; his parents, Horace and Rosamond (Chareth); his sister Judith Spellman; and his brothers Wallace, Wayne, Bruce, and Raymond.
