Robert W. Setterland passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22nd, after a period of failing health.

Robert,”Bob” was born in Springfield, attended Weymouth Schools and graduated in 1942 from the Weymouth Trade High School. While in high school, he met his bride of 67 years, Pauline”Polly” Smith.  After high school he joined the United States Navy and spent 4 years as a gunner during World War II.  In 1944 Pauline travelled to Port Orchard, Washington where she and Bob were married.  Upon his return to Massachusetts Bob worked as a master machinist for Bethlehem Steel.  He moved his family to Hanover in 1957 . He was the owner/operator of Setterland Machine and Setterland Trucking. Bob was an accomplished man. He enjoyed automobiles and purchased one of the first electric cars for Polly. He travelled throughout the United States and Europe.  He spent many winters in Hawaii and Florida.

In his later years he organized several Weymouth High School reunions. He collected and enjoyed jig saw puzzles and did hundreds of them. The past few years he enjoyed beginning his day with his son Robert having breakfast at the Eating Establishment.

Bob was predeceased by Polly and his son, Paul Edward.  He is survived by his son Robert (spouse Debbie) and their four daughters, Heather, Holly, Kristen, and Kaete and his son David (spouse Susie) and their two daughters Janette and Tammie.  Papa” also leaves his six great children.

A private service will be held at a later date.
