Richard was born in Weymouth South Shore Hospital and grew up in and around the Boston area. He was known for being a dedicated Freemason with the Puritan Lodge A.F. & A.M. for 30 years. He worked with E. Norris Brown a wood working company in Whitman. He volunteered a lot of his time recycling and taking charge at the East Bridgewater Recycling center. He would often make trips to Maine for the 10 cent returns for a little profit. He always had time for people if they needed a ride or just to talk.

His hobbies were stamps, coins, and collecting Matchbox toy cars. He would frequently visit the Bridgewater-Raynham flea markets on Sundays to haggle and trade. His favorite candy were Almond joys. Favorite place to eat was Millies of Whitman for breakfast. He enjoyed his downtime listening to classical music on vinyl records. Richard also picked up Bead fusing in which he would give some to his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his Parents Ragnar and Joy Nilson.

The family would like to thank Terry Blea for being the best friend to Richard in his final years and making it that more comfortable.

Richard will be cremated and no public celebration of life, any other plans will be in private.

A Kind Father, A heart of gold and a Friend to all.
