Richard J. Coughlin Jr.

Richard J. "Dickie" Coughlin Jr. of Whitman passed away on November 3, 2023 at the age of 70. Dickie was raised and educated in Whitman and attended Whitman Hanson High School. Before graduating Dickie went to work to help support the family. He married at the age of 21 to Gail Hockney and started a family of his own. He worked a variety of jobs across all the trades but mainly was focused on work as a carpenter.

Dickie was very mechanically inclined and loved cars, he loved his 1966,442 racing car‘s and different types of machinery. In his earlier years he enjoyed photography and trips to Florida. He would spend time watching football games and was an avid patriots fan. Dickie was a humble man and would go out of his way to help some one in need. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him.

Dickie was the son of Richard and Edith Coughlin. He was the loving father of Dennis Coughlin, his wife Stephanie of Whitman and Erik Coughlin and his wife Cheri of Bridgewater. He was the devoted grandfather of Owen, Colin, Devin, Noah, Britney and Aiden. Dickie leaves behind his siblings Michael Coughlin, April Sullivan, Brooks Coughlin, Sharon Bradshaw and was predeceased by Billy Coughlin, John Coughlin, Bobby Coughlin and Lynn Farrier.
