Paul Digiammo

Paul Vincent “Digger” DiGiammo, age 79, of East Bridgewater and Whitman, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 following a period of failing health.

Paul was born in Brockton on July 30, 1938, and was the son of the late John and Julia DiGiammo. He was raised and educated in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1956, where he participated in gymnastics and YMCA activities. He enlisted and served in the United States Army following his high school graduation. Paul was a quiet and thoughtful man who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He had a smart sense of humor and always loved a good joke. He appreciated the little things in life, and was a man who would give you the shirt off his back.

Paul is survived by his beloved children, daughters Paula and Marybeth, and son Paul Jr., his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was godfather to several nieces and nephews, and enjoyed this role throughout their lives. Paul was predeceased by his sisters Claire (Murphy) and Laura DiGiammo, and his brothers, John “Jack” DiGiammo, Herbert “Herbie” DiGiammo, and Andrew “Eddie” DiGiammo. Growing up as the youngest of the boys, Paul was doted on by his big brothers, and was often the negotiator and peacemaker in their active and lively Brockton home which was so often filled with family, friends, and neighbors during the 1940’s and 50’s.

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at Commercial Club, 1 Nielson Ave., East Bridgwater on May 5th 12-3:30
