Patrick “Pat” Byrne of S. Dennis passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 51 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Patrick was raised and educated in Whitman and was the youngest of his seven siblings. He was lovingly supported and adored by Uncle Fred and Aunt Paula. He worked many years as an auto mechanic and took great pride in his work.
Patrick was a person with incredible willpower and tenacity while always being able to put a smile on the faces of the people around him. In his free time Pat enjoyed playing the guitar and being a part of the Cape Cod Ultimate Frisbee League where he made many close friends and teammates. Until his final moments Pat was still cracking jokes and enjoying time with his family. His absence will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Pat was the devoted father of Maggie Byrne, Molly Byrne and David Carty. He was the loving brother of Andrea Kelley and her husband Chris, Michael Byrne, Christopher Byrne and his wife Kim, Tim Byrne and his wife Jen, Leanne Wilke and her husband Jamie and Bonnie Corrigan and her husband Michael. Pat also leaves behind his cousins Sarah Melchin, Alise Spence and Grieg Cashman and many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation to greet Patrick’s family on Sunday May 19, 2024, from 1-4pm in the Mackinnon Funeral Home (760 Washington St. Whitman). Family and friends will gather in the funeral home on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman at 10:30am. A burial will follow at the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
