Norma V. Marden (Power) of Hull, MA died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, December 27 th . She was the loving wife of 60 years to her best friend, the late Charles P. Marden, whom she had known since grade school. Norma grew up in Cambridge, MA and was a proud graduate of The Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton. Soon after High School Norma began her career as a secretary. She was a passionate learner and soon typing and shorthand led to learning COBOL and computer programming which she grasped quickly. Norma worked as an office manager at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth for many years and also worked and retired from Sigma Instruments Inc. of Braintree, MA before retiring to North Fort Myers, Florida.
Norma was always a fun loving, adventurous, energetic, young thinking person. She looked forward to week-ends and vacations when she could be on her boat. Sailing was a huge part of her and her husband Chuck’s life. They were long time members of the Wessagussett Yacht Club in Weymouth, MA. They spent many days with friends sailing the Atlantic. Martha’s Vineyard and Block Island were favorite destinations.
Norma leaves behind her, her older brother Herbert Power of N. Fort Myers FL, two devoted daughters, JoAnne Marks and Julie Marden both of Hull MA, her two son-in-law’s, four grandsons and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
