Marjorie "Margie" Stewart of Whitman passed away on October 17, 2023 at the age of 93. Margie was born, raised and educated in Quincy and attended Quincy public schools. Margie married Robert Stewart and the two settled down and started a family. She was a homemaker until their children were old enough and then Margie began working at Alpine Press as a bookbinder and worked there for many years.
Margie was a talented woman. She would crochet, bake and care for her houseplants. She loved reading detective magazines, enjoyed watching Family Feud, old westerns on ME tv and collected anything and everything especially all the beanie babies during the height of the craze. She answered to many names, Ma, Mom, Nana, Big Nana or the Hobbit. She will be sorely missed be all.
Margie was the daughter of James and Mildred Guppy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Robert A. Stewart. She was the devoted mother of Linda Leone and her husband John (deceased) of Ft. Myers, FL, Debra Richard and her husband David of Lynn, Robert Stewart and his wife Sue of Brockton, Judy Stewart-Gagnon and her husband Lee of S. Sutton NH, Bonnie Fleming and her husband Greg of Whitman and was predeceased by her first born son whom died in infancy, daughter Barbara Brown and great grandson Jordan. She was the loving sister of Dorothy Tener of Weymouth and predeceased by her brothers Larry, Robert, Russell, Richard and Donald. Margie also leaves behind her many grandchildren and great grandchildren in MA, NH, VA, SC and RI.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Margie on Tuesday October 24, 2023 at 10:30AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. A graveside service will follow the Mass at the Braintree Cemetery on Plain St in Braintree
celebration of life will follow.
in Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margie's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
