Marie E. (Fleming) Lailer of Whitman passed away suddenly on the 1 st of December 2022 at the age of 68 while on an Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Island of St. Thomas U.S.V.I. She is survived by her loving husband Kenneth J. Lailer of 46 years. Mother to Michael K. Lailer of Hull, Dennis J. Lailer and his wife Susan of Whitman and grandson James, Tim and Dan.

Marie was born in Boston daughter to the late Chief Bernard Fleming of the Brookline Police Department and Elizabeth (Skalla) Fleming. She was a graduate of Elizabeth Seton of Wellesley and Massasoit Community College of Brockton.

Marie was a Registered Nurse for 32 years in the medical profession and retired in 2019. Marie enjoyed time traveling with her husband while cruising the Caribbean or traveling throughout the state in their recreational vehicle.

Marie made Whitman her home in 1977. Originally from the town of Brookline and spent her summers in Hull. She was the President of the Whitman Historical Commission and the President of the Dyer Memorial Library, Board of Trustee. She assisted the Whitman Fire Department as a member of the Community Emergency Response Team, better known as C.E.R.T.

Relatives and friends invited to visiting hours on Tuesday December 13th in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman 3-7 pm.

Funeral Mass Wednesday in Holy Ghost Church Whitman at 10:30 am.

Burial will be private.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Whitman Fire Department, C.E.R.T Program and 56 Temple St., Whitman, MA 02382
