Lawrence Jones, Sr.

Lawrence E. Jones, Sr., 80 of Hanson died Thursday December 7, 2017 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth following a long illness. Son of the late James Edward Jones and Eleanor F. Jones of Dorchester. He leaves his wife of 14 years Jackie (Faghan) Jones. His brother Neil Jones and his companion Victor. His 2 sons, Larry Jones Jr. and his wife Kerry, and Steven Jones. His six daughters Laura Napa, Susan Hudson, Cathy Correnti and her husband Joe, Cheryl Head, Melinda Jones, Jennifer Sutton and her husband Tom. He is also survived by three step-children the late Kim Burtonni, Kristie Cappellini and Jimmy Jackson.

Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also best friend of Ron Fredey. Also by his beloved dog Fanny.

In his early years he attended South Boston High, where he was a drum major, played baseball and captain of the football team. After High School he was an U.S. Army veteran.

He went on to start a successful business, Metropolitan Elevator for 31 years. In retirement he was an avid golfer, he loved history and gardening. He enjoyed a huge collection of war movies. Most especially he enjoyed his time with his loving wife to whom he was devoted to.

A memorial will be held in the spring to celebrate his life.
