It is with profound sadness I announce the death of my beloved husband of 13 years, Kevin Ritson-Monks who passed on March 26, 2019, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Kevin was born October 13, 1962, in Dublin, Ireland, to father Seamus Monks and mother Eileen Monks and leaves behind his wife, Melanie, his perfect son, Aran Ritson-Monks and wife Heather of Boston, MA/Dublin, Ireland, and his beloved animal friend and perfect dog, Riley. He is also survived by his mother, Eileen Monks, Dublin, Ireland; his two sisters - Angela Carroll (husband Roddy, son Steven (Lisiane) of Dublin, Ireland, and Colette Diprose (husband James and sons/godson Sam and Louis) of Devon, England. We are especially grateful to the great doctors and nurses who treated and cared for Kevin these past few years, but are especially indebted to Dr. Gina Manzo of Braintree, MA.
Kevin had a passion for adventure, life, and laughter, and cared deeply about the preservation of the environment and the kindness and protection of animals. He is loved by many and well known for his humor and quick wit, infectious personality and smile, and the limitless kindness he gave to anyone he met.
Kevin was a committed and caring driver of children through North River Collaborative in Rockland, MA, and touched the lives of each child he cared for and was rewarded in return with the joy of the relationships and bonds built through his work. He held previous jobs working as a driver for AAA New England (Andover, MA), Specs (Dallas TX), and Baroo (Boston, MA), as well as owned a cargo company in Ireland.
Kevin was a great guy and loved by all who knew him or met him in life, so let us not forget him after death. May the road rise up to meet you; May the wind always be at your back; May the rain fall soft upon your fields; May the sun shine warm on your face. Until we meet again my love and my best friend.
Kevin did not wish to have a wake or funeral and will be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held in Kevin’s honor on Saturday April 6th from 12-3 pm at the Cottage Bar & Restaurant, 26 Union St., Weymouth.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Kevin’s memory and with Dana Farber, can also be specific that funds are to be used for treatment of Glioblastoma/Neuro Oncology:
