Judith Neal

December 19, 1943 — October 18, 2017

Judith Lee (Furlong) Neal passed away peacefully at her home on October 18 th after a long illness surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to the late Edward and Josephine (Gussie) Furlong on December 19, 1943 in Quincy, MA. She was raised in Braintree, MA and graduated from Braintree High School in 1961. Her late friend and sister-in-law, Ann (Modestino) Neal, introduced Judy to the love of her life, Jerry Neal.  Judy and Jerry were married on May 3, 1968 and went on to have many wonderful adventures in Washington D.C., Connecticut, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

Judy spent her entire life focusing on others. She will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and all the time she gave to her family and friends. Her first priority was always her five grandchildren.

In 2004, she and her husband became the owners of Cape Cod’s Isaiah Hall Inn, located in Dennis, MA. Inn-keeping came naturally, as Judy’s hugs and baking always made guests feel like family. Over the last 14 years, she touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness.  She was blessed to work with her husband along with other family members including Irina, Michelle, and her best friend since 3 rd grade, Lee.

Judy never let her health issues stop her from living life to the fullest. She went to church every day. She would not miss a family party, or a friend’s birthday, and certainly not one of her grandchildren’s events.

Besides her husband Jerry, she is survived by her brother Charles Furlong of Mims, FL, her daughters Wendy Neal Joanis of Portsmouth, NH and Melissa Neal Wong of Quincy, MA, her sons-in-law Michael Joanis and Kingsley Wong, her grandchildren Madelyn Joanis, Emma Joanis, Michelle Joanis, Miles Wong, Oona Wong, her sister-in-law Ann Neal Smith of Braintree, MA, her brothers-in-law Harold Neal of Dartmouth MA, Michael Neal of Plymouth, MA, James Swindler of San Francisco, CA, many nieces and nephews, and so many life-long friends who were more like family.

There will be a funeral mass in her honor at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, MA on Monday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judith's memory to The Cape Cod  COPD Support Group, 404A Great Marsh Rd., Centerville, MA 02632
