Joseph James Chittick of East Bridgewater passed away on December 30, 2023 at the age of 86. Joe was born, raised and educated all in South Boston. Once he was old enough he joined the United States Air Force, finished his education and met his future wife, Maureen. Joe concluded his military service and began work at the Quincy Shipyard. He worked the rest of his career as an iron worker with local 7 with his last 20 years being with the MBTA.
Joe was a kind man with a big heart. He would always be helping everyone with anything they needed. He was a devout catholic, enjoyed sports and played in a softball league with the "Over the Hill Gang". Above all else Joe was a family oriented man and always took time to spend with them.
Joe was the beloved husband of 63 years to Maureen Chittick of E. Bridgewater. He was the devoted father of Elaine Chittick of Weymouth, Cheryl Vezina of Norwell, Joseph Chittick of Lawrence and Michelle Clark and her fiancé Scott of Whitman. Joe was the cherished grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 3. He also leaves behind his sister Carol Parrow of S. Boston and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Joe on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2-5PM in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St. Whitman. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10AM. Burial at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree will immediately follow the service.
