Joseph M. Bearse

May 17, 1969 — April 22, 2024

Pembroke, MA

Joseph Michael Bearse, 54, passed away April 22, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Dorchester on May 17, 1969 to the late George Bearse and the late Maureen Bearse (Condry). Joe was the youngest of the 9 Bearse children: brother to the late Robert Bearse, Susan Provost, the late David C. Bearse, Cindy Preston, Joanne Geer, the late Jane Brown, Jill Bearse and John Bearse. He was a proud uncle to David L. Bearse, Dawn Haran, Gerri Schaffert, Alan Provost, Elizabeth Duggan, Monty, Jillian, Allyson and Nolan Geer, Ryan, Cailin and Jaime Preston, Alex and Chelsea Bracchi, Maya Brown, Jack and Jeffrey Bearse, and dozens of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joe was a plumber and a lifelong Pembroke resident. He had a great love for his hometown and many of the people who lived there. He played hockey for Silver Lake Regional High School and graduated in 1987. He was well-known for his sense of humor and will be remembered by many for the love and laughs they shared. Joe’s greatest passions were hockey, the Bruins, fishing, his cat Chloe, and of course, his boat. Whether skating in the winter or water skiing in the summer, Joe loved everything about Oldham Pond. He could navigate it better than anyone and could even tell you where every rock bar was located.

Our family and the numerous friends Joseph accrued over his lifetime will miss him greatly. Among them, Brett Carter who was like a brother and later a caretaker; lifelong best-friends Brian Golden and Rick Servant; as well as great friends Mike, Terri, and Marie Zanaboni; Rob McGlone; Jimmy Lyons; Joey McLeod; Kenny Twigg; Dave Lemanski; Matt Mitchell; Michael McDonough; Kevin Grohe; Chris and Brendan Long from his high school crew; neighbors and friends from Oldham Pines; and his teammates from the Men's Hockey League.

Services for Joseph will be private.

A Celebration of Joseph’s life will be held on Sunday July 21st, 2024, 1-5 pm at the Hilltop Athletics Association, 65 Pottle Street, Kingston, MA
