John "Jack" Furtado

John J. "Jack" Furtado of Whitman passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton Sunday February 2, 2014 at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Rita T. (Doran) Furtado. Son of the late Manuel R. and Isabel (O'Brien) Furtado.  Loving father of John W. Furtado of Indiana, Lt. Col. Joseph D. Furtado and his wife Carol of West Minister, Michael F. Furtado and his wife Ann Marie of Assonet, Lt. Col. Charles E. Furtado of Hawaii, Suzanne E. Carey and her husband Scott C. of Brockton, Robert G. Furtado and his wife Jill of Whitman, and Mary-Ann Furtado of Burlington, VT. Brother of Robert J. Furtado and his wife Ellie of Scituate. Papa to Kelley (Furtado) Rosano and her children Kayla, Wyatt, and Ashton, Nikki and Daniel Moody and their children Amberjean and Daniel Jr., Sarah (Furtado) Woods and Bo Woods, James and Karen Furtado and son Jordon J., John J. ll, and Jacob M. Furtado, Danielle T. Furtado and son Matthew Silveira, Alyssa Furtado and Jesse Furtado, Robert G. Furtado Jr., Benjamin A Furtado, Isabella T. Furtado, Jocilyn R. Carey, Charli-Emily Carey, and Lilyjean Carey.  Papa will be sorely missed by all.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home 760 Washington St. Whitman Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman on Friday at 9 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Internment at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Whitman.

In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations in Jack's memory to Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansa 66675. Jack was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Army.
