John Thomas Sharp, 65, of Hull, MA, formerly of Quincy MA, died May 8, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. The son of the late Edmund S. Sharp and the late Jane (O'Donnell) Sharp.  Survived by daughters Christine M. Sharp of Abington, MA and Melissa J. Sharp of South Boston, MA. Father of the late Kerry-Anne Murphy and surviving husband Paul F. Murphy of Carver, MA. Loving Grandfather to Jonathon T. Sharp-Hunt of Abington, MA. He was the brother of Carol Ann Sharp of Florida and the late Stephen Sharp of Raynham. Also survived by niece Melanie Tocci and nephews Alex and David Sharp. John also leaves behind many beloved friends.

John was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a supply specialist during the Vietnam War and the Korean conflict and was a Veteran of the US Army Reserve.

He was retired from the town of Hull where he worked as a mechanic for the Police Department. John was a longtime resident of Hull, MA where he enjoyed living by the seaside. He enjoyed his Sunday morning coffee and the company of many friends at A St. John was an avid collector of all things requiring repair and kept himself entertained by tinkering. He enjoyed a faithful companionship of 15 years with Huey, his cat, who oversaw the intricate repairs taking place. In his early days he belonged to the Spindles Hot Rod Club and was an amateur auto racer at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. His pride and joy was a '55 Chevy loving titled the "Cement Mixer". His love of cars continued throughout his life. He especially enjoyed keeping a few cars around and payed special attention to rotating the Spitfire collection so that they were all driven appropriately. His friends knew him for his colorful sense of humor and sound advice.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at MacKinnon Funeral Home 760 Washington Street, Whitman, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 6-8 PM Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hull War Memorial Commission c/o Town Clerk, 253 Atlantic Ave. Hull. MA 02045
