James E. Wentworth of Brockton and most recently Carver passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 78. James was raised and educated in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. After finishing high school, he met his future wife Virginia, the two married and started a family. He worked for many years at the Rockland Water Division and was a machinist at a local shoe factory. In later years he worked at Lowes and in the meat department at Shaw’s until his retirement in October 2023.
Jim loved being outdoors and doing work around his home both inside and out. He had a special part of him that adored horses and any other animals. Jim was a very genuine person with a big heart. He was always giving to charity, had a great sense of humour, was easy to get along with, possessed a great spirit and was well liked by those he worked with.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Virginia Wentworth. He was the father of William K. Wentworth, his wife Robyn of Quincy, the late James Wentworth Jr. and father-in-law of Cynthia Wentworth of Abington He was the brother of the late Robert and Geraldine and leaves behind many close friends and colleagues.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of James on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5-8PM in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, Whitman. A funeral ceremony will take place Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the funeral home at 11AM. A burial will immediately follow at the Old North Cemetery in Weymouth.
