James Hollis, Jr.

James L. Hollis Jr. of Las Vegas, died peacefully on March 20, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 22, 1960 in Middleboro, Ma. He grew up in Whitman with his grandparents, brothers and countless friends. In 1978 he made Las Vegas his home after joining the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a lover of life and made friends everywhere he went. In passing, he is gone from us but the memories we shared will always be a part of us. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Joseph and Marjorie Marotta, his father; James L Hollis Sr. and his niece; Jennifer Mueller Overstreet. At the time of his passing he was survived by his mother (now deceased) Roberta Bowen of Ga, his wife; Gloria “PJ” Hollis of Las Vegas, his son James L Hollis III and his wife Ali of Hollywood, stepdaughter, Abigail Wood and her husband Charles and their children Emily and Charles of Las Vegas, Stepson Isaiah Thornton and his son Ethan Thornton of Las Vegas. His brother Kenneth Hollis and his wife Lynn of Hanson and their children Joseph and David. His brother William Hollis and his wife Laura of Whitman and their children Kristina Mueller and Joseph Hollis, and his great niece Fiona Overstreet. Also, stepbrother Greg Perry of Alaska, and stepsisters Cathy DeSilva of Chelmsford, Stacey Cenerizio of New Bedford, Joanne Stevens of Fall River and Louisa Lamarre of Bellingham and many other nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday July 6 ^th in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman at 11:30 am.

Interment to follow at Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
