James J. Doherty of Neponset November 16, 2016. Beloved son of the late James T. and Mary E.  ( Mullaney) Doherty. Brother of the late Mary Edgar, the late John P. Doherty,  and the late Ann Doherty. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jim lived his life in the most positive way. He saw the good in everything and encouraged others to do the same. He was a man of God. His actions and incredible example that he showed his family and community of Dorchester are behaviors that should be emulated by all of us. A person who possessed qualities we should all try to imitate. Jim was a generous loving, supportive and unselfish man who always put other people before himself. Jim was charitable, giving, considerate, and kind. Jim cared deeply for everyone he knew, whether you were his family, friend or a member of the Neponset St. Anne's community. He was always  willing to help out someone in  need. He had the kindest heart of anyone you knew.

Jim was always a person so filled with light and love everyone knew him. He was easily recognizable by s purple Boston Latin jacket walking the streets f Neponset Avenue.  He would park himself outside his front porch or on the church bench and talk or wave to all those who went by saying "hello" or telling them to keep smiling. Jim was always there when we needed him. He was selfless and always put others need ahead of him. He never wanted people to go out of their way for him, yet, he did it all the time for others. He touched the lives of so many people and even though he is gone, his memory will live on in all of our hearts forever. His spirit has not left us. Everyone who was ever touched by him in his or her lifetime should have faith that he will be watching over them because that is just the kind of person he was.

Visiting hour will  be in St. Ann's Church, Neponset, 243 Neponset Ave. on Monday November 28, 2016 9:30 to 11 AM. Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery.
