Francis Meinhold

Francis L. Meinhold, 99  of Hanson died peacefully Thursday January 21, 2016. Francis was the husband of the late Edna (Boyden) Meinhold. He was the son of Max and Melinda (Freeman) Meinhold.

Born in Coburg, Montana, he came to Massachusetts as a young child. Francis attended Whitman High, then trained at the Quincy Trade School as an auto mechanic. During the war he was in the State Guard and worked at the Fore River Ship Yard.

Throughout his long life, Francis had several jobs. He worked at John Foster Lumber for many years and retired from Aetna Pump. He also raised turkeys for 35 years. Francis enjoyed his large garden and spent many hours raising vegetables and flowers. He also Loved woodworking and would sell his chairs and bird houses in his front yard. Many of his customers became his new friends.

Francis is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband Fred of Hanson, and his son Lee and his wife Linda of Whitman. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Melissa, Amanda, Lori, and Matthew, their spouses and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at the First Congregational Church of Hanson on February 14 ^th at 2 pm.

Interment will be private.
