Felix “Phil” Anthony Carlino, age 93, of Centerville, MA, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Tremont Health Care Center. He was born in Braintree, MA on May 20, 1922, the son of the late Frank and Mary Carlino. In 1940 he graduated from Stetson High School in Randolph, MA.
Felix enlisted in the army as a Private in January of 1944 and went into active duty with the 101st Airborne, 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment, Alpha Company. He parachuted into Sainte-Mère-Église in the early hours of June 6, 1944 and participated in the major battles; Operation Overlord, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. He was twice wounded during his service and held the rank of Technical Sargent by the time he was honorably discharged.
After WWII he returned home to his wife, Fran in Randolph, MA and had two sons, Phillip and Joseph. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Boston MA and later retired from the Centerville, MA Post Office. After the passing of his first wife, Fran he married Priscilla (Small) Aho.
He was preceded in death by his wives Frances (McGrath) and Priscilla (Small), one brother, Frank Carlino, and one sister Pauline Graziano. He is survived by two siblings, Angelo Carlino of Boynton Beach, FL and Joan Gigilo of Braintree, MA; sons Philip Carlino of Plaistow, NH, Joseph and Maureen Carlino of Centerville, MA; five grandchildren Steve Hodgkinson of Cumming, GA, Kerry Ward of Dunwoody, GA, Andrew Carlino of Conyers, GA, Joshua Carlino, of Centerville, MA, Samantha Carlino, of Plaistow, NH; three great-grandchildren, Brooke & Summer Hodgkinson, and Caleb Ward.
