Eva Belle Walther of Whitman passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, at the age of 81. Eva was raised and educated in Whitman and graduated with the class of 1960. After graduating Eva attended beauty school, got married to her husband, "her Rock" Hank and the two started their family in Gloversville, New York. They moved back to Whitman and continued to raise and grow their family. Eva worked as a cafeteria manager in the Whitman school system until her retirement.
Eva was an amazing woman with a big heart. She enjoyed her carpool of ladies to Bingo, playing scrabble, wallpapering and of course her 6pm and Sunday dinners that you could not be late for. She was a mother and caregiver to all but especially to her Special Needs Sister Judy who she supported with her whole heart all her life. Her doors were open to all. She welcomed people of all ages into the family game room and adopted the name “zookeeper” as she always had a house full of people. She was a woman that always cherished the moments she spent with her family, friends and community and will be sorely missed by all who crossed her path. Eva was a huge Elvis fan and loved playing his music on her computer. She was known by her friends and family as the FACEBOOK STALKER where she read everyone's posts and loved reaching out to old friends and new friends. Eva loved most sports golf, Nascar, Football but most of all the Boston Bruins. Eva was an amazing and funny woman who loved to make people laugh and loved her family so much. Eva always wanted people to know that Camel Non-Filters were made of the finest Turkish tobacco. Eva spent every moment with her best friend Dusty II who is lost without her.
Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Walther. She was the loving mother of Kayleen Newcomb and her late husband Edward of Brockton and Dawn Varley of Whitman. She was the devoted Nana of Eddie A, Matthew, Will, Paul, John and Nana E of Jay, Alyssa, Lucas, Maya, Emmett, Palmer, Dana. Eva was predeceased by her siblings Bill Smith and his wife Patricia and Judy Smith and also leaves behind her cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends Gloria and Sally.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service in memory of Eva on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1PM in the Northville Cemetery on Oak St in E. Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Whitman Council of the Knights of Columbus, 1195 Bedford St, Whitman MA 02382. A small reception for family and friends will be held at 2:00 at the KofC immediately following her services.
