Elaine Marie Souza, 80, aka “Aunt Elaine” to All and Godmother to many, sadly passed away peacefully at home surrounded by beloved family members and friends on 9/27/2022.
“Aunt Elaine” resided and was born in Taunton, Ma, she has two sisters & three brothers, (deceased) Elizabeth “Betty” Waterman/Hollingsworth; Richard “Dick” Souza; James “Jim” Souza & survived by Nancy Read & Ron Souza. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & friends that are family.
She leaves so many of us with unforgettable lifelong memories. One of her characteristics can be best described as “Old Reliable” – “Our Rock”. All could agree she was always there for EVERYONE, unconditionally supportive without an agenda & never asked for help in return. In every situation, at a blink of an eye she would jump on a plane, in a car, at hospital, on doorstep for life threatening events &/or to change a band-aid or just be a sounding board no matter how much of a mess someone is going through & would do so without judgment. She was beyond generous with her caring, time & gifts for every occasion for so many family members throughout their entire lives. Her dry sense of humor, straightforwardness & no filter by keeping it real was refreshing. Her love & passion for the casino lifestyle was her enjoyment & one of her finer pleasures in life.
More noteworthy, as a birth mother of two, our beloved “Aunt Elaine” did the bravest, most selfless sacrifice one could do purely for the love of her children. Her gift to give them a beautiful adoptive loving family together in which they thrived putting their needs above her own shows an exemplification of her character.
The gravity and depths of emotions she endured & pain she kept to herself (uncomplaining) throughout her life made her the “The Warrior” aka “The Warden” … we are in awe of her courageous strengths & endlessly selfless nature.
In addition, another act that is worth addressing *Elaine Souza selflessly has given an Anatomical Gift as a Donor for Massachusetts Medical School to Tufts University. In Lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in her name to (Hospice) The Amedisys Foundation or www.amedisys.com/donate. A Celebration of Life will be a private event.
She will dearly be missed and never forgotten …. “THE GODMOTHER”
