Eileen (Kelly) Smith of Whitman died peacefully at home on Friday April 6 th , 2018 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife for over 50 years of the late Thomas E. Smith. She was born in Hingham, daughter of the late John T. Kelly and Elizabeth (Damon) Kelly. Eileen was employed by Hingham Water Co. (now Aquarion) Water Co.) for over 46 years. She retired as Customer Service Superintendent in 1991.
Eileen lived in South Weymouth for 51 years and was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. She lived in Whitman for 14 years and a communicant of Holy Ghost Parish.
She is survived by her only child Theresa Craven and her husband Donald of Whitman, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Donald and his wife Jill and their children Thia, Shane, Brandon, and Reese of Whitman, Thomas and his wife Caitlyn of Abington, David and his wife Whitney and their children Elliot and Owen of Whitman, Michael and his wife Leigh and their children Jameson, and Kelly of Whitman, Elizabeth and Eileen both of Whitman.
She is also survived by her sister Alice (Kelly) Flynn of Yarmouth. Eileen was the sister of the late Mary Hart, Margaret Coughlin, John T. Kelly Jr., and Catherine O’Connor.
Relatives and friends invited to visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman on Monday Apr. 9 th 5-8 pm.
A funeral mass will be celebrated In Holy Ghost Church on Tuesday at 9 am.
Burial to follow at St. James Cemetery in Whitman.
