Eileen L. “Nick” Glynn of Hingham passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 75. She grew up in Stoneham and graduated Stoneham High School with the class of 1967. She then attended Bryant Stratton Secretarial School. Her professional career began at Filene’s department store and after many years of volunteering at the Park Avenue Elementary School in Whitman she took a job as a teacher's aide and then went on to work in the Town of Whitman's Treasurer's Office retiring as the Assistant Treasurer for the Town of Whitman in 2014. Eileen was a lifelong Democrat proudly belonging to her town union and was a member of AFCME.
Eileen trained in dance from a very young age with ballet and toe tap being her specialties. She passed on her love of dance to her daughters and granddaughters. Nothing made her happier than volunteering backstage and watching their performances. All versions of Nutcrackers were her favorites.
She also gave her time to whatever organizations her children and grandchildren were involved with. Whitman Youth Soccer and St. Bridget's School's Friday hot lunch program were two that she enjoyed the most.
Eileen loved working in her gardens, needle pointing, reading, and traveling. Her favorite destinations were Edinburgh, Ireland and especially Disney World where she enjoyed planning elaborate vacations for her more than willing family.
Eileen was the loving daughter of Douglas Emerson Nickerson, Phyllis Nickerson-Marks and stepdaughter of Allen "Bud" Marks. Beloved wife of 54 years of William Vernon Glynn II. Loving mother of Denise Menendez, her husband Julian of E. Bridgewater, William V. Glynn lll his wife Maureen of Stoughton, Maggie Glynn of Abington, Katie (Glynn) Flynn and her husband Erik of Whitman. Eileen was the devoted Nana to Michael, Stephanie, Sofia, Ella and Morgan. She was the sister of John Nickerson, his wife Arlene, Patricia Sullivan, her husband George, Judi Marks, Karen Marks Castro and her husband Marcello. She also leaves behind Barbara Frye Patterson, James Glynn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Eileen on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1-4PM in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, Whitman. A Funeral Service will take place immediately following the visitation in the funeral home at 4PM. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or to St. Bridget’s School in Abington.
