Edwin A. Scriven Jr. 79, of Whitman died April 29, 2015 after a period of failing health. Edwin was born in Jamaica Plain, MA, the son of the late Edwin A Scriven Sr. and the late Marie B. (Cain). He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Delphine (Plasse) Scriven of Whitman. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. Edwin was a member of the Whitman Auxiliary Police Dept. He was employed as a truck driver for Stop & Shop for 32 years. He was a lifetime member of the Whitman VFW Post 697,
the Rockland Eagles, and the American Legion of Whitman.
After retirement he enjoyed yard work and spending time with his fellow Veteran’s. He is survived by his sister, Lanie Scriven of NH, and his nine children, Edwin A. Scriven lll and (Deborah) Scriven of Hanson, Susan Scriven of Rockland, Steven and (Kelly) Scriven of Whitman, Michael Scriven of Warren, RI, Mark Scriven and Brian Grow of Whitman, Theresa Scriven of Whitman, Christopher and (Brooke) Scriven of Whitman, Sheryl (Scriven) Quersher of Hanson, and Luana (Scriven) Duquette and (Burt) of East Bridgewater. Edwin was the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Edwin will be greatly missed by his canine companion, Buddy.
At the Family's request all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin’s memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
