Donald E. Forand of Whitman died peacefully on September 4, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was born on February 25, 1947 In Barton, VT, spent his youth in Franklin, NH, and graduated Franklin High School in 1965. He later received a Business Degree from UNH in 1969 and began his career at GTE Sylvania as the Plant Controller in Seabrook, NH. Don spent the next thirty years at Dexter Corporation in Londonderry, NH, Olean NY and Encinitas, CA. as the Plant Business Manager. He served on the Board of Directors for The National Organization of Accountants in Olean, NY, and The Institute of Management Accountants in NH. Don had a kind and giving heart and was involved in many philanthropic organizations. He was a Board Member for The Greater Olean United Way and The National Association for The Elderly in Nashua, NH. Don was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Nashua Country Club. He was an active member of the Nashua Senior Center and enjoyed playing bridge with friends and organizing golf tournaments.
Predeceased by his parents Gerard and Isabelle (Laramee), and his siblings Richard and Lorraine Forand, Don is survived by his twin brother Ronald Forand of Whitman, MA, his niece Amy (Forand) Weed, her husband James, and their sons Benjamin and Matthew Weed of Marblehead, MA.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours at MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington Street, Whitman on Sunday Sept. 8 th 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
Funeral Mass Monday in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 11 am.
Interment immediately following at St. James Cemetery, Harvard St., Whitman.
