David Hanson

June 8, 1952 — August 20, 2021

David A Hanson, 69, of Whitman, MA passed away August 20, 2021, after a long battle with cancer peacefully in his sleep at home where he wanted to be.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen T. (Pendergast)Hanson, his daughter and her husband Kelly and George Beaulieu, his grandson Richard A. Beaulieu, all in Whitman, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Woodrow Hanson, Marie Mason, Paul Hanson, Marilyn Marasca, Debbie Jordan, Robbin Stretch and Rhonda Storrer, along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

David was born and raised in Dorchester, MA, served in the US Army and worked for Cole Hersee in South Boston for over 30 years.   He would do anything for anyone that needed a hand and loved to spark up a conversation with everyone he met.   He was a surrogate dad to Justin Lyons and Brian McGovern.  Those who knew him, loved him.  He will be sorely missed.

Relatives and friends invited to attend visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman on Wednesday August 25 4-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 10:30 am. Burial will be held at a later date at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
