Bertram Litman Of Newton and Tucson, died peacefully in his sleep on April 15 at the age of 97, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances Solomon Litman and the father and father-in-law of Peter Litman and Deborah Edwards of Wellesley, Bara Litman-Pike and Daniel Pike of Newton, and Deborah Litman and Paul Keefe of Jamaica Plain. He was the grandfather of Julie Keefe, Daniel Keefe, Henry Litman, and Abigail Pike, and great-grandfather of Rye and Asa D'Allessandro. Bert graduated from Brookline High School and Harvard College, class of 1938. He served in the Navy during WWII in Cuba. For many years Bert owned and ran Colton-Lewis, Inc. an importer and distributor of gifts. Bert was a fine athlete, an avid tennis player, a world traveler and a lifelong and passionate Democrat. He was a truly concerned and caring gentleman who was devoted to his family, friends and social justice.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
