Barbara (Reduker) Stickels age 86 of East Bridgewater, formerly of Lakeville died November 14, 2015 at home with her family, after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Stickels for 54 yrs. Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Rocky Hill, CT, the daughter of Gertrude and John Reduker. For over 15 years she worked alongside her husband in his automobile business and in later years she was the co=owner of Middleboro Antiques in downtown Middleboro where she enjoyed the many people she met throughout those years.
Barbara was a lifelong Red Sox fan, enjoyed the NE Patriots and rarely missed a day of reading the Boston Globe “in print”. She loved watching her bird feeders, especially fond of “her babies” the hummingbirds. Sitting by the Cape Cod Canal, lunch at Lindsay’s and enjoying a glass of hard cider where among the pastimes that brought her pleasure. Her dry sense of humor, strength and patience remained with her to the end. She was among the world’s best listeners from which came great compassion, wisdom and endless support.
She is survived by her daughter and best “bud” Susan Mandell of East Bridgewater. Funeral arrangements are private. The family wishes to thank her special caregivers, Tanna, Helena and Jordan as well as Old Colony Hospice and Old Colony Elder Services, whose help kept Barbara in the loving warmth of her home throughout her illness.
