Anna Mae (Tehan) Baker of Bourne passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay. Mae, as she was known, was born in 1940 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Martin J. Tehan, Jr. and Anna (O’Rourke) Tehan. She was educated at the former Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury.
In 1961 Mae married the love of her life, Fred Baker, Jr., a proud U.S. Navy veteran. They soon moved to Bourne where they enjoyed 38 happy years together until Fred’s untimely death in 1999. Mae was a gifted and meticulous homemaker and an avid birdwatcher with a special affinity for cardinals and hummingbirds.
Preceded in death by her brother Frank, Mae is survived by her sister, Kay Tehan of Waterbury, Connecticut, and her brothers Martin M. Tehan, Sr. also of Waterbury and John F. Tehan of Bourne, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mae will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be private, and interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will take place at the convenience of her family. Donations may be made in Mae’s memory to a charity of one’s choosing.
