Minot "Mike" Horton

Minot”Mike” A. Horton Jr. of East Bridgewater passed away suddenly on Sunday January 22, 2012. He was 84. Born in Brockton June 24, 1927 to Minot Horton Sr., and Lillian(Allen) Horton. He was one of seven children. He spent all of his youth in Brockton. Having a strong work ethic, he had many jobs during his working years. The first one as a newspaper delivery boy for the Brockton Enterprise at the age of 10 where he saved up to buy a new blue bicycle, his pride and joy. Extremely independent, punctual, and thorough he liked jobs where he could work at his own pace. Some of these jobs were as a Tanner at Barbour-Welting Corp; night watchman at Isam-Mitchell Co. In Brockton; self-employed painter and furniture mover, and as a maintenance and set up man for social events at the East Bridgewater Commercial Club.

Mike is survived by his first wife Lois (Bell) Standen of Plaistow, NH. His five children Michael Horton of Milton, NH, Stephen of Farmington, VT, David of Plaistow, NH, Elaine Kimball of Montpelier, VT, and Cynthia O’Leary of Palatka, FL. Also 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His wife Sandra of East Bridgewater and their son Kyle J. Horton. Step father of Christopher Charette of East Bridgewater, Julie Charette of Middleboro and Diane Shimkus of East Bridgewater, also many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his common law wife of 23 years Frances Rosario. He outlived all of his siblings. He leaves a close and dear companion Suzanne Kelly of East Bridgewater, who made his last years happy and comfortable. Known for his beautiful blue eyes, beaming smile and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
