John O’Donnell, (Jack) of Whitman died peacefully on June 16th at the age of 89. Son of the late John and Anna (Collins) of Salem, MA, and loving husband of the late Anne Marie (O’Donnell). John was a graduate of St. James in Salem, MA. and during WWII he was with the 2 nd Squadron 7 th Calvary. He was a retiree of the Whitman Public School System. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus #347 and American Legion #22. He enjoyed family, friends, golf and dancing.
He is survived by his children Kathleen Hart and John of Plymouth, John of Oakland, CA, Christopher and Debra of Worcester, Maryanne Yoshino of Stockton, CA, Susan Janeiro and Anthony of Quincy, James and Ellen of East Bridgewater, and Dianne Bulman and Gene Powers of Abington. Also his grandchildren Jessica and Jake Hart, Jennifer and her fiancée Jamie, Christopher, John, Matthew and Jillian O’Donnell, Erica and Christopher O’Connor, Tara and Robert Yoshino, Anthony and Patrick Janeiro, Lucas and Kate O ‘Donnell, Haley and Georgia Bulman and his great grandson Jayden. He was the brother of Anna Couillard of Salem, and the late Joseph O’Donnell of Quincy.
Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman on Sunday June 21 st 4-8 pm.
Funeral Mass Monday in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
